Change In The Weather

Sponsored by:

A strong cold front will move across the interior of Northern California bringing with it 10 to 20 degree cooler temperatures. The change in the weather will bring a little moisture to the region.

Some Mother Lode residents in the upper elevation area, like Twain Harte said they woke up this morning to a light dusting of snow. Mountain regions are likely to see the first taste of snow this season.

Folks throughout the Sierra region awoke to slick roads, snow flurries and cold temperatures — a dramatic change from the 80 degree temperatures of three days ago.

This just in, the central valley transportation management center is now saying Tioga Pass in Yosemite National Park in now closed due to snow.

The weather is being blamed for an accident on Interstate 80 involving ten big rigs. I-80 in both directions over Donner Summit had been closed since around 2 a-m.

Westbound Interstate 80 has reopened — but the eastbound lanes remain closed this morning and the California Highway Patrol says it could be mid-afternoon before the wreck is cleared and the eastbound lanes reopened. About an inch of snow fell in the foothills around Reno and valleys of western Nevada.
