Tuolumne County Ranked 5th For Pot Plant Seizures

The state´s Campaign Against Marijuana Planting –or CAMP– program shattered last year´s record by seizing 466,000 pot plants during the 2003 eradication season.

The amount represents 100,000 more plants than last year and has an estimated street value of over $1.9 billion.

This year officials say 75 percent if illegal marijuana gardens were located on public lands, including state and national parks and forests, a 20 percent increase over last year´s seizures.

Tuolumne County is ranked 5th in the state for plant seizures with more than 30,400 pot plants pulled out. Calaveras County is ranked 14th in the state with 8,286 pot plants seized this year.

The number 1 county for plants seized this year is Tulare, with 141,239.

CAMP says they conducted 182 raids in 929 gardens this past summer, arrested 35 people and seized 50 weapons.
