Douglas Flat Woman Hurt In Hwy 4 Crash

More details are now in on that logging truck accident on Highway 4 near Hathaway Pines yesterday:

The CHP now says an Douglas Flat woman was badly injured Friday morning on Highway 4 when a massive piece of logging machinery broke loose from a big rig trailer and smashed a on-coming Dodge pickup truck.

The 1994 Ram pick-up, driven by 42 year-old Robin Owners, was knocked from the roadway by the impactof the falling equipment. The shifting load then caused the big rig to overturn in the eastbound lane of highway. About 30 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled in the mishap.

Owens was life-flighted from the scene to Doctors Hospital in Modesto in serious condition. The driver of the big rig, Donald Rector or Arnold, was not hurt.

The CHP says the highway was closed for 3 1/2-hours in the aftermath of the accident.
