Davis Ready To Fight Recall

Sponsored by:

Governor Davis says he would fight and win if a recall election goes to the ballot. In an interview with The Associated Press today, Davis said he will own up to his mistakes — and he knows he hasn´t done everything perfectly. But he says the state has to stay in the direction voters want.

The recall election could be certified as soon as today.

Davis calls the Republican-led recall effort a “a hostile takeover by the right.” And he says that he feels confident that voters would say no to replacing him – even during tough economic times with the state facing a $38 billion budget deficit. Davis also says he feels energized by the prospect of taking on Republicans.

The governor´s approval ratings have hovered in the low 20s in most recent polls.
