Discovery Of Eagles Won´t Impact Recreation

Sponsored by:

Forest Service officials say the discovery of two nesting Bald Eagles in the Stanislaus National Forest at Beardsley Reservoir shouldn´t have any impact on recreational use of the area. District Ranger Karen Caldwell at the Summit Ranger District says there are no plans to limit recreational use.

Right now, the birds are courting, and officials will be watching closely to see if they successfully mate. The Eagles could choose an existing nest, or build a new one. Forest service officials are taking precautions to make sure the nesting activities aren´t disturbed. Beardsley Road will be open for public use as soon as March.

Bald Eagles are listed as “threatened” under the endangered species act.
