SF To Bottle Hetch Hetchy Water

Sponsored by:

There´s a new brand of bottled water coming to San Francisco – and not from France or Calistoga. The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission says it will soon be offering water from the city´s Hetch Hetchy reservoir.

PUC General Manager Patricia Martel says Mayor Willie Brown originally came up with the idea. She says the commission has been considering it for about three years.

The city will be selling the water – for perhaps $1.25 a bottle – at its three souvenir shops and will eventually be offering it at the zoo, the airport and at Fisherman´s Wharf.

The unveiling of Hetch Hetchy Mountain water is set for later this month.
