Valley Lawmakers Join Clean Air Fight

San Joaquin Valley county supervisors are joining in the fight to clean up the valley´s air. They have created “Operation Clean Air.” They will meet in Fresno next month to set up a five-year plan to get the valley in compliance with federal air quality standards.
But a Central Valley Assemblywoman says she wants to ensure fireplace wood burning isn´t overly restricted. Tracy Democrat Barbara Matthews´ bill would prohibit the regional air district from unreasonably restricting wood-burning fireplaces which are federally certified as low polluters.
