SFPD Conspiracy Charges Dropped

A judge dismissed all conspiracy charges today against five San Francisco police officers accused of obstructing the investigation of a brawl involving 3 off-duty officers. Judge Ksenia Tsenin said the prosecution did not offer enough evidence to support the conspiracy allegations.
The indictment stemmed from the an alleged attack on 2 men last November by three off-duty police officers, including the son of the assistant chief, Alex Fagan.
A grand jury originally included Fagan and Police Chief Earl Sanders in the indictments, but district attorney Terrence Hallinan later dropped those charges. The fallout from the indictments left the department in disarray for days. The 3 officers involved in the fight still face felony assault charges.
