California Condor Population Up

Sponsored by:

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says the California condor population has hit 222 birds, which is a greater than tenfold increase from the historic low of 22 birds in 1982.

The 29 chicks expected to hatch this season would be the most since the captive breeding program began in 1985 to rescue North America´s largest bird from extinction.
