State In Stage One Power Alert

The managers of the state´s electrical grid say hot weather has prompted them to declare a Stage One power emergency.
Temperatures in California are about 5-7% higher than forecasted– resulting in a higher demand for electricity. The Independent System Operator says the state will need an additional four-thousand megawatts of electricity to meet that demand.
ISO managers say no blackouts are expected. Still, ISO officials are asking consumers to conserve energy by delaying the use of large electrical appliances until after 7 p.m. The Stage One alert is in effect until 8 p.m.
A Stage One alert is called when the state´s power reserves fall below 7%. It allows grid managers to access emergency resources to maintain its operating reserves.
