54th Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee Kicks off Tonight

Sponsored by:

For the first time in three years, the Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee will kick off with a carnival tonight. This is the 11th year that Dick Southern has been the event´s chairman. “We´re the oldest community event in Tuolumne County and the only other carnival in the county besides the county fair,” he said. “It´s a pretty big event for Tuolumne County!” he added.

Southern says the Jubilee hasn´t had a carnival for the past three years because the carnival company that they used for 20 years went out of business, and it´s taken this much time to get a new company lined up for the event. The carnival lasts all four days.

Southern says the weekend will be filled with crafts, music, and food.

The Queen´s Coronation is Friday night at 7 pm.

The Logging Show is coming up on Sunday. What´s included in the logging show? “We have an axe throw, Jack and Jill…you know, the bucksaw with a guy on one end and a gal on the other,” Southern said.
