Authorities have now released the name of the San Andreas woman killed yesterday in a roll-over traffic accident in Calaveras County.

The California Highway Patrol says a 45-year-old Patricia Darlene O´Neal lost control of her Dodge pick-up truck about halfway between San Andreas and Angels Camp. CHP Officer Rod McNally said the woman was driving her pickup south on the highway south of San Antonio Creek at 10:30 a.m. at about 60 mph.

The vehicle drifted off the right side of the road and the woman overcorrected to the left. “The vehicle crossed the highway and struck an embankment,” McNally said, which caused the pickup to flip over. “It came to rest on its roof in the middle of the highway.”

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, McNally said.

The highway was blocked for about an hour and a half as crews righted the pickup and cleared the scene.

Officials say this is the 10th fatal accident of the year on Calaveras County roadways. Twelve people have been killed.
