2nd Degree Murder Charge Possible for Peterson

Sponsored by:

There´s big news out of the Scott Peterson double-murder trial today for both the prosecution, the defense — and the media.

Judge Alfred A. Delucchi said today he´s found ample evidence to support second-degree murder charges.

So jurors will now have two choices should they decide to convict the former fertilizer salesman — first-degree or second-degree murder.

If convicted on the latter charge, Peterson would be spared the death penalty.

Peterson faces two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of his wife and her fetus.

The judge also reversed an earlier order allowing television coverage of the verdict reading.

He now says television cameras won´t be allowed in the court for the reading of the verdict.

The judge said, “I don´t want to expose the families to further scrutiny and turn this into some sort of spectacle.”
