Anthropologist Releases Findings in Found Skull

Authorities don´t have an identification on remains found near Bar XX in September, but they are narrowing down the possibilities.

A human skull was discovered by hunters Sept. 27 on property at the end of Bonanza Mine Road.

Because of the condition of the body, the remains were sent to a forensic anthropologist in Santa Cruz for reconstruction.

The anthropologist´s report, delivered this week, said the remains were that of a man, age 25 to 30, of Native American or Hispanic descent, whose height was between 5 feet 6 inches and 6 feet 2 inches.

The remains had been there one to three years.

There was no obvious cause of death.

Authorities had speculated the remains might be those of Ignacio Chavez-Pedrisco, 24, a Mexican national.

Chavez-Pedrisco eluded officers when the Sheriff´s Department busted a methamphetamine lab July 16, 2002, on Hunter Road in Bar XX, sheriff´s Sgt. David Seawell said.
