Possible Fatality in Crystal Falls House Fire

Sponsored by:

A house fire in the area of Crystal Falls late Wednesday afternoon may have caused a fatality.

An elderly couple is believed to have lived in the house, at the intersection of Crystal Falls Drive and Columbia River Drive, according to firefighters.

Initial calls went out around 3pm, and so far, only the female half of the couple is believed to have escaped.

Downed power lines, which may have snapped as a result of the fire, caused an additional obstacle for firefighters at the scene, until a PG&E crew was able to de-energize the power line.

There´s still no official word on the cause of the fire, the resulting damage, or the final status of the possible fatality.

Craig Hart with Tuolumne County Fire says the investigation is continuing.
