Spike in Fatal Accidents Causes Concern for Officials

The number of fatal accidents in the Mother Lode has officials concerned.

The commander of the California Highway Patrol´s San Andreas office says you won´t want to be speeding in the next few weeks… not even a little. In the month of January, five people were killed on Calaveras County roads and highways, and most of them were killed in solo vehicle accidents.

As a result, speeding drivers can now expect zero tolerance from CHP officers. Officials say there will be no 2 mile per hour or 5 mile per hour flexibility. Also, the CHP says don´t eat behind the wheel, always wear your seatbelt, and leave yourself extra time to get where you´re going.

And one final piece of advice: CHP recommends against changing radio stations while driving.
