Sentencing Delayed For Former Corrections Officer

Sponsored by:

Trial for 47-year-old Neal Alden Leash hit another snag this week in U.S. District Court in Sacramento, when the former corrections officer refused to speak.

Officials are calling it unprecedented.

Leash was asked by the judge if he understood the pre-sentencing report, and defense attorney Caro Marks told the judge his client wasn´t speaking.

As a result, the sentencing hearing was continued until Monday morning.

Leash has pleaded guilty to charges of child pornography, and faces a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

He also has pleaded guilty to four child molestation counts in Calaveras County Superior Court, where he faces an additional 25 years to life in prison.
