Motherlode Roundup activities continued last night, with the Roundup Queen Pageant at the Sonora Elks Lodge.

Seven candidates lined the stage, giving speeches, and modeling their coronation outfits.

Her majesty, Meagon Middleton, said afterward that all of the candidates worked hard to get to the pageant.

“I´ve [put] a lot of hard work into it, and I just can´t believe it. All the girls were very tough competition, so it was really close,” said the Queen.

The 18 year-old Columbia College student is working towards a degree in business management and animal science. She is the daughter of Jerry and Tammy Middleton. She also has four brothers and sisters.

“I see the contest as an opportunity to grow mentally, make new friends and test my abilities with horses, and to become a more well-rounded and appealing young lady.”

The next Roundup item on the schedule is the Band Review tomorrow night at Sonora High School.
