Winter is just about over. Ebbetts Pass on Highway 4 reopened over the weekend according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Sonora Pass on Highway 108 is scheduled to open Thursday. Tioga and Glacier Point Roads Anticipated to Open May 14. The roads are closed during winter months.

Yosemite National Park Superintendent Michael J. Tollefson announced today that both the Glacier Point Road and Tioga Road will open May 14, weather permitting.

Beginning at noon on Friday, May 14, the Glacier Point Road and the Tioga Road, the continuation of Highway 120 between Crane Flat and Lee Vining, will open for the season. The Tioga Road is currently open from Crane Flat to Yosemite Creek.

An unusually warm spring has allowed road crews to clear the roads for an earlier than normal opening. The National Park Service usually aims to open both roads for the Memorial Day weekend. Tioga Road has opened as early as April 8th (1977) and as late as July 1st (1998).

Yosemite National Park visitor services will not be immediately available on either road. No drinking water, gasoline, or food service will be available until water and wastewater systems can be put in service. Services will be expanded as conditions permit. There will be no weight restrictions in effect.

Restroom facilities will be available at Glacier Point, Tenaya Lake, Lembert Dome, and at the Tioga Pass Entrance Station. Camping or overnight accommodations are not yet available on either road. There are no projected opening dates for the campgrounds at Bridalveil, Crane Flat, Tuolumne Meadows, White Wolf, Porcupine Creek, Tamarack Flat, or Yosemite Creek.

There are no projected opening dates for the Glacier Point Store, Tuolumne Meadows Lodge, Store and Service Station, or the White Wolf Lodge. Additionally, visitors should expect winter driving conditions may exist on these high elevation roads. The roads may close temporarily for winter storms.
