Fire officials now say arson is to blame for a 2-acre brush fire yesterday that destroyed a fifth-wheel travel trailer and a barn near Lake Don Pedro.

A CDF spokesman in San Andreas says that it took about ten fire units to contain the fire on Jacksonville Road at the entrance to Moccasin Point Marina yesterday. Fire officials say the blaze was started intentionally in some trash, and spread to grass, the travel trailer and nearby barn causing $20,000 damage.

Mother Lode Area firefighters battled at total of eleven fires yesterday. A fire in the Big Hill area near Columbia yesterday morning was held to a 1/2 acre by firefighters. A CDF helicopter was called in to help fight the blaze. Cause of that blaze is under investigation.

A wildfire in a remote section of Calaveras County blacken just over 2-acres yesterday morning northeast of West Point in the Blue Creek area off Spur 4 . No structures were threatened. Crews were on scene all day.

When Tuolumne County fire crews arrived at Highway 108 and Montezuma Junction west of Jamestown just after 8 p.m. Thursday night they found an equipment shed on the Rosasco Ranch fully involved in flames.

The blaze caused $20,000 damage and is still under investigation this morning.
