Young Men Likely To Have “Crime Gun”

Sponsored by:

A new study finds a connection between young men, guns and crime.

According to a survey by the University of California at Davis, men between the ages of 18 and 20 are most likely to possess a so-called “crime gun.”

In an analysis of more than 2,000 guns recovered in California, researchers at the university also found a relationship between the size of the gun and the likelihood of it being used in a crime.

The UC-Davis study says the median time from sale of gun to recovery, called “time to crime,” was nearly six-and-a-half years. But researchers found that the time to crime was much shorter — just 69 days — for large-caliber, semiautomatic pistols.
