Senior Center Receives More Transportation Options

Sonora, CA — The Sierra Foothills Senior Center is the recipient of a big present this holiday season courtesy of a regional transportation company.

MV Transportation presented the center with the title of a 1994 F-350 passenger van outfitted with a hydraulic wheelchair lift.

The title of the van was presented to Hunsaker and the center by Regional Vice President of MV Transportation Jay Jeter whose company has been working with the center for about four years.

Center Director of Operations Randy Hunsaker says the vehicle will open up new possibilities in the center´s transportation programs. He says before the acquisition of the van, the center wasn´t able to transport those in wheelchairs, leaving it up to those people to get to the center on their own.

Jeter says he was approached by Sonora resident Adam Emmer who expressed the center´s need for the vehicle. The van will transport eight passengers plus one wheelchair, or six passengers with two wheelchairs.

Jeter says the van has been paid for and is ready for service.
