Arrests Likely In Highway 49 Rock Throwing Spree

Sponsored by:

Jackson, CA — CHP says arrests of two college students suspected of throwing rocks at oncoming cars while traveling along Highway 49 last week is likely.

Officials say the two began in Amador County at the Jackson Rancheria and ended up in Sacramento.

The two apparently collected the baseball sized rocks from a landscape area and threw the rocks into oncoming traffic on the highway as they drove homeward.

Several cars were damaged and two people were injured. One driver reportedly drove off the road after being knocked unconscious by one of the rocks.

Authorities say the two are prepared to turn themselves in to be brought back to Amador County for arraignment.

The two could face dozens of charges including attempted manslaughter.
