Pot Grower Files Claim Against Calaveras

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — Wesley Crosiar Sr., who is set to stand trial for criminal cultivation of marijuana, has filed a claim against Calaveras County alleging destruction and theft of his personal property.

He says the damage took place when Code Enforcement officers hired a company that in turn destroyed his home and stole his equipment.

Code Enforcement Supervisor Todd Barr said Crosiar has had five years to clean up his property. An abatement company was hired in May to do the work for him. Two illegal structures were demolished and junk vehicles were removed. Barr said much of Crosiar´s belongings are in storage and a $14,000 lien has been placed on the property.

Not related to the abatement charges, Crosiar and his two sons were charged with growing pot on the same property in September of last year. All three men will be arraigned December 5.

Crosiar´s claim against the county will be heard by the Board of Supervisors Monday. If denied, Crosiar has six months to file a lawsuit.
