District Attorney’s Office Ready For Bad Checks

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne District Attorney´s Office is making preparations for the holiday rush of bad checks written to area merchants.

The county´s Bad Check Program is a free public service for residents and merchants.

All recipients of bounced checks are asked to send those checks directly to the program.

Bad check writers will be contacted and required to pay the amount of the check plus bank and administrative fees. Those refusing to pay restitution may be prosecuted.

The D.A.´s office says fraudulent, forged, lost or stolen checks should be sent directly to law enforcement authorities.

Complaint forms are available from local law enforcement, Chambers of Commerce or at the D.A.´s office. They can also be aquired at the District Attorney´s web site.
