Family Ordered To Stand Trial For Pot Growing

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — A dad and his two sons have been ordered to stand trial for criminal cultivation and possession of marijuana.

That´s what Calaveras County visiting judge Richard Specchio decided after a daylong preliminary hearing for the Crosiar family Wednesday.

Fifty-two year-old Wesley Crosiar Senior and his sons 30-year-old Wesley Crosiar Junior, and 21-year-old David Crosiar were all in court and represented by three different attorneys.

On the morning of September 28, 2004 a Calaveras Narcotics Enforcement Unit found about 140 plants on the property of Wesley Crosiar Senior.

Each of the men had doctors´ recommendations to grow a certain amount of marijuana. The District Attorney´s Office argues that the amount being grown was well beyond their prescriptions.

Judge Specchio dropped a charge for criminal transportation of marijuana saying there was insufficient evidence.

Arraignment for all three men has been set for 9 a.m. December 5 in Department one of Superior Court.
