Sisters Of Missing WWII Airman Hope Frozen Body Is Their Brother

Sacramento, CA — The light hair on the frozen body of a World War Two airman gives Jeanne Pyle of Columbus, Ohio hope that the remains found this month in a Sierra Nevada glacier belong to her brother.

Pyle remembers her brother, Cadet Ernest Munn, as a handsome, 6´4″ man with blond hair and blue eyes. He was among four airmen who died when their navigational training plane crashed in November 1942 in California.

None of the members of that flight were ever found. Mountain climbers found the airman´s head and arm jutting out of the solid ice of the receding glacier in California´s Kings Canyon National Park on October 16th.

The body was flown yesterday to Hickam Air Force Base on Oahu, Hawaii, where it is being examined at the Joint POW MIA Accounting Command, which identifies the remains of lost soldiers.
