San Andreas Sanctuary Founder Featured In Book

San Andreas, CA — Pat Derby, founder of the Performing Animal Welfare Society, has been featured in the book, “A Day in the Life of the American Woman: How We See Ourselves.”

PAWS operates three sanctuaries in California, one of which sits on 2,300 acres in San Andreas.

The book is a collection of photographs featuring women who have achieved their dreams.

In April, Derby spent the day at her San Andreas sanctuary with Pulitzer Prize winning photographer Carolyn Cole. It was the same day two elephants from the Detroit Zoo Wanda and Winky arrived at the facility.

Also that day, 49 other photographers followed various women across the country to be featured in the book.
