Sheep Ranch Fire Consumes Vacant House

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — CDF says a blaze in Sheep Ranch area consumed a vacant house and spread to nearby vegetation early yesterday afternoon.

Jeff Allen of San Andreas CDF says the fire consumed two acres before crews brought it under control.

Allen says the house had been empty for several years. He says the cause of the blaze was an old burn pile that had been smoldering for some time.

Ten CDF engines, three local engines and a local water tender responded along with four aircraft, one dozer and two hand crews.

Allen says it took crews about 20 minutes to contain the fire.

Meanwhile Craig Hart with Tuolumne County CDF says a grass fire that burned about a one-quarter acre of grass last night was possibly another case of arson.

Hart says four engines responded to the fire at the Foothill Horizons Camp. He says the camp is owned by the Stanislaus County office of Education.

Officials are asking anyone with any information concerning arson activity to contact Tuolumne County CDF Chief Richard Imlach.

No injuries were reported in either incident.
