Highway 108 was closed east of Obyrnes Ferry Road at the site of a triple fatal crash yesterday morning.

The accident happened at about 9:45. Motorists travelling west from Sonora were diverted from Highway 108 to Highway 49 and then onto Highway 120 Westbound. The names of the three people killed in the wreck, 2 from Tuolumne County and one from Stockton, have not been released pending notification of their families.

A fourth victim in the wreck, 26 year old Sonora resident Lisa Degitz, was airlifted to a Modesto Hospital with major injuries. She is reported to be in stable condition.

The CHP says the 22-year-old male driver of a 1989 Honda was eastbound on Highway 108… when he came up on slow traffic ahead of him… and swerved left onto the shoulder, then swerved right across both lanes of traffic.

The Honda hit a 1991 Toyota wagon occupied by three females, all from the Sonora area.

Again, the names of the three victims killed in the wreck have not yet been released.
