Sponsored by:

Yosemite National Park officials will be in Groveland on March 7th to gather input from the public on the Park Service´s new Merced Wild and Scenic River plan.

Some of the issues that will be ironed out in the plan include wildlife management, where to place campgrounds and how many campsites to allow, access and other issues. A meeting on the new plan will be held in Groveland at Tenaya elementary school on Monday, March 7th starting at 5 p.m. Park Ranger Scott Gediman says the public will be allowed to provide comments on the plan starting at 6:30 p.m. Input can also be provided by writing or emailing the Park Service in Yosemite.

“The plan will address the river´s boundaries near El Portal and the user capacity of the Merced River.”

Park Service workers will also conduct a meeting regarding the Plan this Tuesday at the Park´s Visitor Center in Yosemite Valley. Another meeting will be held in El Portal at the elementary school from 5 to 9 p.m. on the same date.
