Woman In Wendy’s Finger Case Taken From Las Vegas To California

San Jose, CA — The Las Vegas woman arrested after she said she found a human finger in a bowl of Wendy´s chili was transferred Friday to California to face charges that her claim was a hoax.

Police from San Jose took Anna Ayala into custody about 6 a.m. from the Clark County jail, Las Vegas police Sgt. Chris Jones said.

Ayala had waived extradition April 26 and told a Las Vegas judge she was eager to return to California to face charges of attempted grand theft in the Wendy´s finger case and an unrelated grand theft charge.

Her lawyer, Rick Ehler of San Jose, has derided the charges as baseless.

Ayala faces a maximum seven-year sentence if convicted of attempted grand theft in the finger case.

She faces at least 16 months more if convicted of an unrelated grand theft charge for allegedly bilking a woman of $11,000 in a soured deal over a mobile home two years ago.
