Elderly Woman Found Severely Neglected Is In Hospital

Valley Springs, CA – An elderly woman is in the hospital and her adult caretakers are in jail following a welfare check Tuesday.

The Calaveras County Sheriffs Department arrived at Paradise Peak to find what Detectives are calling the worst case of elder abuse they have ever seen.

Lieutenant Macedo said the elderly woman had severe bed sores and there were bugs and larva on her body.

Also in the home was 54 year old Alan Deyarmon, and his wife 51 year old Rosie Deyarmon. They were supposedly caring for the woman, who is believed to be the mother of one of them.

Two children were also taken from the home and put in protective custody.

Due to the condition of the home, the Calaveras County Hazardous Materials team was dispatched to the scene to ventilate the home enough for the detectives to be able to enter it.

The Deyarmons were booked for attempted manslaughter, felony elderly abuse and felony child abuse.
