The Search Is On For Missing Murphys Woman

Murphys, CA — Calaveras County search and rescue teams are combing the Murphys area for 33-year old Jennifer Mellera.

Authorities say Mellera left her Murphys home on foot at 3 a.m. Friday morning.

Mellera is a white female, is 5´6” and weighs 125 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes. She has an earring in the top lobe of her right ear and several rings. She was last seen wearing a black nightgown or shirt.

According to a family friend she is a stay at home mom of a five-year old son.

A sheriff´s report says Mellera is at risk and distraught. It is unknown if she is suicidal.

Helicopters will soon be joining the search, which has expanded into the wooded areas around Murphys. Search teams are also looking along Murphys Creek towards Angels Camp.

The Bret Harte High School graduate´s maiden name is Jennifer Kelly.
