German Exchange Students Explore Mother Lode

Sonora, CA — Two dozen German exchange students are experiencing the wonders of the Mother Lode, thanks to the hard work of the Sonora 49er Rotary Club.

Current club president, Rob Gaskill says the high school students have been in the area since Tuesday. The students are placed with host families and have a week to take in all that the Mother Lode and Yosemite National Park has to offer.

Gaskill says the teenagers enjoyed a day at Pinecrest Lake Wednesday and a Rotary luncheon Thursday afternoon.

This evening, they will be attending a play at Sierra Reperatory Theater, followed by a weekend camping trip in Yosemite. Gaskill says dozens of students from Sonora have also participated in exchange programs in England and Germany.
