Sonora, CA — Schools in the Mother Lode may be getting some new equipment thanks to a class action lawsuit against Microsoft.

$600 million in technology funds will be available to schools across the state according to the Department of Education and Sonora High School Principal Terry Clark is definitely excited.

He says because Sonora High was one of the first schools to get new computers several years ago, the equipment is extremely outdated.

The money comes from a suit alleging the world´s largest software maker abused its power in the computing industry. The company set up a fund for consumers to make claims. Two-thirds of the unclaimed money will go to public schools.
