Break-up Gets Violent on Fairview Lane

Sonora, CA– Friends of 35-year-old Harry Hughes are recovering after being pepper sprayed by Hughes´s ex-girlfriend.

The Sonora Police Department says Hughes was returning home Sunday evening when his ex- girlfriend, 29-year-old Loretta Brown confronted him in the parking lot. Officials say Hughes told them he broke up with her earlier that day.

After a verbal confrontation, Hughes began walking towards his apartment on Fairview Lane. After inside, reports indicate Brown forced her way inside. Two of Hughes roommates and another friend tried to get her out of the apartment when she opened a can of pepper spray and sprayed them.

She then ran out of the apartment. Brown was arrested at her residence on Greeenley Road and was booked for unlawful use of pepper spray, domestic battery, and vandalism.
