Copperopolis Woman Dies In Crash
Copperopolis, CA — A 27-year old Copperopolis woman has died after an accident in Copperopolis Wednesday afternoon.
Her name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
The woman was a passenger in the car of 36-year-old John Paul Newlon of Angels Camp.
Newlon was driving a 1988 Ford F-150 eastbound on Copper Cove Drive when it collided with the rock lane divider before rolling onto its roof.
Newlon and the woman were trapped inside the vehicle. After emergency personnel were able to free them, Newlon was taken to Doctor´s Hospital in Modesto where he is being treated for major injuries.
The woman was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in Modesto where she succumbed to her injuries.
The California Highway Patrol says Newlon was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
