C.D.F. Crews Battle Mokelumne River Canyon Fire

San Andreas, CA — C.D.F. fire crews continue to battle a 15 acre vegetation fire in the Mokelumne River Canyon.
Fire Prevention Specialist Nancy Longmore reports the fire is located near Hwy. 49 and the electric powerhouse across from the Box Beach area.
Due to the steepness of the terrain, access has been by foot only. Responding to the fire have been four crews, 10 engines, four dozers, a water tender, a C-130 tanker and two helicopters.
No evacuations have been ordered although a sheriff´s deputy was in place to deal with residents of the Boston-Yale neighborhood if necessary.
Longmore adds that bottle rockets were found at the scene of the fire but it has yet to be determined if they are the cause of the blaze.
