Exit Exam Results In Tuolumne County

Sonora, CA — With California´s high school exit exam firmly in place following a Thursday appeals court decision, some 47,000 seniors throughout the state who failed that test are facing a serious dilemma with graduation exercises right around the corner.

In Tuolumne County, Superintendent of Schools Joe Silva reports that Summerville High School has a perfect record … all seniors have passed the mandatory exam.

For Sonora High and its affiliated schools a total of 24 students have yet to pass the exam. Silva says those students will be able to join their peers in their respective graduation exercises, but they will not be receiving a diploma.

Silva adds they can retake the exam during the summer in an effort to earn their sheepskin.

Silva admits the timing of the decision was terrible but the exam is necessary because it´s an issue of accountability.
