Slush Cup Benefits Search And Rescue

Bear Valley, CA — Skiers and snowboarders in Bear Valley this weekend will compete in the Slush Cup, a benefit for Bear Valley Search and Rescue.

Sunday Bear Valley Mountain Resort will open its intermediate runs to adults and kids for the race. Registration is at 8 a.m. A race awards ceremony, raffle and barbecue will be held at 1 p.m.

The Bear Valley Search and Rescue is a non-profit organization that provides emergency services in support of local law enforcement looking for missing or lost individuals. The group most recently participated in the search and successful recovery of lost skier Louie Viera from Mokelumne Canyon in April 2006.

Also this weekend, mountaineering classes are being offered through Mountain Adventure Seminars. Workshops will be held in crampons and ice axes, rope team and snow anchors, glacier travel and crevasse rescue.
