Monday Evening Tragedy In Willow Springs

Soulsbyville, CA — Seven year old Ian Campbell was killed at approximately 7:10 Monday evening while skateboarding on Charlotte Ct.

According to Lt. Dan Bressler of the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department, the youngster was crouched very low on his skateboard and after descending his own steep driveway actually went under a 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup truck. The left rear wheel ran over Campbell inflicting the fatal injuries.

According to authories, the driver of the truck, Mark Houghton of Soulsbyville, did not even realize he had hit the youngster until he saw him through his rear view mirror lying in the street.

A number of Campbell´s friends witnessed the accident. Houghton was well within the speed limit and was not cited by authorities.

A team of grief counselors will be attending to staff and students throughout the day at Soulsbyville Elementary School.
