Visitor Numbers In Yosemite Disappointing

Sponsored by:

Yosemite National Park, CA — Although Yosemite National Park saw the biggest waterfalls in years, tourism to the park did not meet expectations.

Last year the visitor total topped off at 3.38 million people, up only a few thousand from the previous year´s 15-year low.

The normally crowded month of August reflected numbers that had not been so low since 1990. Park officials believe the high cost of gasoline might have had an effect on tourism.

Local business owners around the park say there must be something wrong with the counters, because their businesses were booming.
