TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23 – NO BURN DAY

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — For the second day in a row NO burning will be permitted in the Mother Lode by order of the California Air Resources Control Board.

Due to the southern California fires ranging from Malibu to San Diego, only nine engines remain in the CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit.

Monday CAL FIRE Battalion Chief Jeff Millar stated that 15 engines (encompassing 60 plus firefighters), one bulldozer, one helicopter, 10 fire crews, 15 miscellaneous support personnel and one Calaveras County strike team had been dispatched to southern California. In total more than 250 Mother Lode firefighters are now battling the seven county fires that have displaced over 300,000 residents.

In addition 79 Stanislaus National Forest personnel have been dispatched to southern California. According to Spokesman Pat Kaunert a strike team of five engines has been sent along with two 20 person “hot shot” crews, one dozer and a dozen support personnel.
