Tuolumne County Man Sentenced 14 Years For Burglary And Elder Abuse

Sonora, Ca — 48 year old Robert Donald Charles was sentenced to 14 years in prison this afternoon in Tuolumne County Superior Court.
According to information from the District Attorney´s Office, a jury found Charles guilty of two counts of burglary and one count of elder abuse. It was for an incident in which Charles took $1,800 from a 93 year old Sonora resident, promised to make repairs on the victim´s vehicle, and failed to follow through with the promise.
Charles previous record played a factor in the lengthy sentencing. Charles had been to prison twice before, and has five felony convictions on his record, including robbery.
