Graduation Day At Sierra Conservation Center

Sponsored by:

Jamestown, CA — It will not be your typical graduation ceremony, but approximately sixty Sierra Conservation Center inmates will be recognized tomorrow for receiving G.E.D certificates or completing vocational and adult education programs.

Lt. Kenny Calhoun says it is also the first time in the institution´s history that some inmates will receive college degrees through correspondence courses.

Calhoun says it will be an important day for the inmates, as it marks one of the first successful accomplishments that some of the individuals have had in their lives.

The special ceremony will begin at 9am, and a number of family members have been invited to attend. Also on hand will be Frank Russell who is the Director of Education and Vocational Programs within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
