Sonora Resident Attacks Police Officer

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — 22 year old Sonora resident Sabrina Azevedo was jailed early Tuesday morning after incurring a rash of charges including felony battery on a peace officer.

According to Sonora Police, Azevedo was in a highly intoxicated state when she was pulled over after backing her pickup truck over a city street sign near Washington St. and Columbia Way at one o´clock this morning. Azevedo failed several field sobriety tests.

After being placed under arrest, she became combative. Once in the police unit, she kicked the back door and window. Treated for a facial laceration at Tuolumne General Hospital, Azevedo failed to give the arresting officer her cell phone. When he used physical force to take the phone, she bit the officer.

Azevedo was booked into the county jail and charged with a D.U.I., hit and run, obstructing a police officer and felony battery on a peace officer.

The officer was treated and released.
