Albino Deer Continues To Call Pine Mountain Lakes Home

Sponsored by:

Groveland, CA — An Albino deer has made still another appearance in the Pine Mountain Lakes area of Tuolumne County.

Apparently Tuolumne County is becoming a haven for rare species. A couple of weeks ago it was a Smew who decided to make Willow Springs Pond in the Soulsbyville area his new home. Ducks watchers flocked, if you will, to view only the fourth sighting of a Smew in the U.S.

Tuesday afternoon, Mark McVeigh got a photograph of the Albino deer and a friend directly across the street from his residence. McVeigh adds that the deer was born in the area and has generally been spotted on the lake´s north side. McVeigh´s residence is on the south side. He is estimating the deer to be six to seven months in age. Sex of the animal has yet to be determined.

McVeigh added that he has hunted deer in California, Oregon and Colorado but this is a first; spotting an Albino deer.
