Valley Springs Woman Injured After Driving Off Embankment

Valley Springs, Ca — An 82 year old Valley Springs woman was reportedly seriously injured this weekend after driving off the road and down an embankment.
On Saturday afternoon, Virginia Phinney was traveling west bound on Highway 26, just east of Double Springs Road. According to the Highway Patrol, for unknown reasons she drifted off the edge of the roadway into a drainage ditch.
Phinney then veered out of the ditch and across the traffic lanes. Her 1998 Ford traveled down the embankment and eventually came to a rest when it became stuck in mud.
Phinney was transported to UC Davis Medical Center. Her condition is not available. The accident was reported at 4:10pm.
