Firm Selected To Oversee Calaveras Jail Construction

San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors today unanimously voted to hire Kitchell CEM, Inc. to oversee the design and construction of the jail and criminal justice center.

?We´re extremely happy because it is an excellent firm,? says Calaveras County Sheriff Dennis Downum. ?We can start moving forward at this point. The next step will be going out for bids for an architect, and the Kitchell group will help us evaluate the contracts and proposals. Then we´ll just keep moving forward from there.?

The County approved a $2.77 million contract for the services of the Sacramento based firm, and it was selected from a pool of nine applicants. Downum is hopeful that the 240-bed facility will be completed by around 2011.
